"Data recovery" is when you extract the closed captioning data from the captioned video itself. It's the best way get a transcript and timing when all you have is the closed caption media. Most of the firms who make closed caption inserters also make data recovery hardware (manufacturer links). Some computer video adapter cards like some of the ATI All-In-Wonder series have data recovery capability. AutoCaption includes a module that takes the recovered data from data recovery hardware with a RS-232 output, adds time stamps, culls out the caption channel you want, and makes a worksheet ready for you to edit. |
